Description
Simply "pay-as-you-grow"
"The most integrated (1U), multi-rate / multi-protocol WDM solution"
The PL Family is a leading carrier class Metro DWDM platform for transporting data, voice and SAN applications over passive fiber and WDM networks. It primarily satisfies the growing demand for high data capacity applications such as IPTV, Triple Play and NGN, which are to be transmitted over the same existing or new fiber infrastructure.

Its capabilities, dimensions and competitive cost make it an ideal solution for the evolving metro Ethernet networks, corporate networks, campuses and campus connectivity.
It is a leading CWDM / DWDM platform that supports optical signals between 100Mbps to the current 200Gbps, in a standard 1U pizza box design, up to 1.2Tbps (12x100Gbps). , which provides the highest level of flexibility and scalability for fiber optic links and offers a variety of services.

As a transponder or muxponder, the platform supports several services per module. Each service is set up separately using PacketLight's easy-to-use web-based administration tool. In addition, by stacking multiple 1U subassemblies, customers can extend wavelengths to as many as 88 wavelengths, achieving high scalability through an initial small investment and modern architecture.
An optional integrated encryption against cyber / hacker attacks from the outside according to GCM-AES-256 Layer-1 data encryption standard with periodic Diffie Hellman key exchange complies with the requirements of NIST FIPS-140-2 Level 2 and NSA Suite B for services up to 100G ,
The system is designed to support standard point-to-point, linear ADM and ring topologies along with line protection. Signals are also converted into OTN signals to ensure a standard transfer to other networks. These are highly integrated devices, which include the following functions:
- Transponder, Muxponder (PL-400, PL-1000/TN/TE/GM/GT/T/AD, PL-2000/AD)
- Mux/DeMux (PL-300)
- EDFA (PL-1000IL)
- ROADM (PL-1000RO)
An optional, redundant power supply concept supports both pure AC or DC as well as mixed AC / DC use.
The multi-chassis virtual solution architecture PacketLight Management, combined with strong web-based and NMS tools, enables the rapid deployment of new services and networks or the expansion of existing infrastructure. PacketLight LightWatchTM enabled through software dynamic rate interface to define end-to-end service and wavelength routing and monitoring per service. Thus, the infrastructure for the provision of high-end service quality assurance.

The PL family enables low-priced initial networks, as well as pay-as-you-grow, simple and cost-effective upgrades of existing infrastructure suitable for all kinds of services.

"DWDM amplifier inline and preamp EDFA solution"

The EDFA PL-1000IL is designed to cost-effectively enable the power link budget of DWDM solutions. The PL-1000IL optical amplifier (EDFA) has an amplifier capacity for a range of optical solutions, from 4 wavelengths up to 88 wavelengths, and incorporates 3 main types of low-noise EDFA (erbium-doped fiber amplifiers) pre-amplifiers (boosters), inline and post amplifiers (pre-amp).
The amplifier signals of the EDFAs are flattened and have a low optical signal to noise ratio (OSNR). This allows you to connect multiple EDFAs together to create long-range links. PL-1000IL is fully integrated with the PL-400, PL-1000 and PL-2000. In addition, the PL-1000IL units are fully controlled, configured and monitored using PacketLight's easy-to-use and web-based administration tool, PacketLight's EMS solution or other third-party SNMP-based management tools.
Characteristics of the EDFAs PL-1000IL:
- Supports 4/8/16 and 32 C-band wavelengths
- Provides three major types of EDFA: amplifiers, inline and preamplifiers
- Supports AGC (Automatic Gain Control) and APC (Automatic Power Control) operating modes
- Embedded optical monitoring channel for remote control and topology detection
- Supports single and dual fiber optic operation
- Plug-in dual AC or DC power supply and plug-in FAN units
