The JDSU Q Series lasers are Q-switched diode-pumped UV and green lasers which are used for high-pulse-energy processing of materials such as ceramics, high-repetition-rate processing of materials such as sapphire or silicon.

Solid-state Lasers
Solid-state lasers are optically excited lasers that contain a solid-state crystal as an active medium. Depending on the structure of the laser resonator, solid-state lasers can produce continuous laser radiation, laser pulses, or ultrashort laser pulses. Ultrashort femtosecond pulses and the associated non-linear effects in particular open up completely new applications for solid-state lasers. These include laser material processing, measurement technology, ultrafast spectroscopy, microscopy, and multi-photon spectroscopy.
